For Sage's bright personality, pretty purple, pink and yellow were only appropriate when choosing her birthday colors! And the free spirit that she is, she had to have butterflies! Mom ordered a smash cake just for Sage, Mini Butterfly cupcakes for tiny hands to grab, and a butterfly cake as the centerpiece of the party as well as treat for the mommy guests!
Not too long after Sage's party, I had an order for more Butterfly cupcakes. This time for an AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) participant's 11th year of sobriety! Butterflies (which were created by hand with chocolate) of course symbolize freedom, Maroon was the color of the chip she earned, and pink was her favorite color. Such a cool milestone to celebrate and what better way than with cupcakes =)

Pretty Little Pink Penguin!
What do you do to celebrate a little girl who loves pink AND penguins? Well, duh, you make a pink penguin cake of coarse! And she had to have a hat...but of coarse. The only thing she is missing is her girlfriends to have tea with! The only problem for her is that tea goes perfectly with...cake =)

Captain America- for Captain Chaz's Birthday!
Chaz, who is a huge Captain America fan, needed his own Captain Chaz cake for his birthday! We personalized the cake by adding a "C" on top of his mask rather than an "A". I didn't ask Chaz's age, but he is a grown up, which was the best part!

Whattup, Yo Gabba Gabba Cake!!
Hello, Kitty Cat Cake!
If boys are made of slugs and snails and puppy dog tails, then little girls are made of kitty cat kisses and pretty little bows! Happy birthday to such a sweet little girl, from Hello Kitty!

Lego my Ninjago Cake!
Ever heard of Lego Ninjagos?? Well there are plenty of 7 year old boys out there like Sol, who follow them religiously, play them, watch them and now EAT them?! Who knew these little fighters would surrender so easily! My favorite part about this little birthday guy is that I got to make his cake last year too! See his incredible Hulk cake for birthday #6. It seems he lept from one giant green guy to another swift one- as his favorite of the Ninjagos, hence his front and center placement on the main cake. But he didn't leave the other colors out, they made their way onto the cupcakes. Happy 7th Sol! Hope to see you and Grandma Julia again next year!

Elmo Birthday Cake!
A fun Elmo Cake for little Jayce! The original design was adapted from a "girly" version which had cute little leaf designs on the top tier, to boy-friendly stripes for the little man! What you don't see here is how amazing his party was...An Elmo Jump House in the backyard, Elmo footprints leading up to the door, and the handsome birthday boy wearing his favorite Elmo shirt!

A Very Hungry Caterpillar Cake and Cookies!!!
Do you remember that colorful book from when you were little, about the caterpillar who inched his way along, snacking through the picnic? It used to be so fun poking pointer, thumbkin and ring man through the holes in pages where he ate through. That day The Very Hungry Caterpillar had a little too much to eat- he consumed: aredapple2greenpears3purpleplums4strawberries5orangeschocolatecakeicecreamapicklecheesesalamialollipopsausageacupcakeacherrypieandawatermelon.
So it was super fun covering a two-tiered cake with some of his favorite foods, and a giant version of the caterpillar, 3D, on the bottom tier. Also in the mix was a smash cake to match the theme and some decorated caterpillar sugar cookies! My guess is the party guests were full, and thankfully the caterpillar didn't get to it all first!
Minnie Mouse Birthday Cake!
The best part about this cake is not that it takes me back to my childhood, or that it has giant Minnie Mouse ears or a big bow- it's that it was ordered for my friend's 24th birthday! She was so excited when she picked it up that I think she even jumped up and down! Can't wait to see what she orders next year =)

Pink Sock Monkey Flag Banner Cake!
This fun cake was created for a little birthday girl using the classic sock monkey theme, only a girl sock monkey! Mom, Brittany, sent me a copy of the invitation, which employed the color scheme above and a cute flag banner with a similar look. I also loved the idea of bringing in the classic argyle into the cake border and of course a bow and a "1" for Kenadie's first birthday! I always love a good theme to work with, and I could not wait to make this one! Happy birthday Kenadie!

Angry Birds Cake!
Before I made this cake I knew nothing about angry birds, but thankfully I had plenty of friends at my disposal who were able to act on a consulting basis. And the concept was not that difficult =) I love how playful the concept was and it made for a fun cake! Happy birthday Jovani!

A Little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for Maverick!
A dear friend of mine asked to order a cake for her little guy's first birthday. I couldn't be more honored, considering not only just how much I love this gal, but the miracle of life she has been able to experience in her son's first year on this earth. I remember her recounting her story about his birth, doctors did not think he'd live long. Maverick surpassed so many obstacles in the first hours, first weeks, first months, and now the first year of his life! He is now a healthy little baby, and has brought immense blessings and smiles to his family. I wish I could have seen him dig into his Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake, but just as awesome was getting to deliver it to his momma who was stoked to see the way it turned out. Happy Birthday dear little Maverick! To many more blessed birthdays in the future.

Zev's Elephant Birthday Cake
I got an email about a month ago, from a friend of a friend requesting an elephant cake. Tara, the adorable birthday boy's sweet mom, wanted something elephant themed for her son's 1st birthday party that matched the cute invitations. I got so excited because I love elephants, and I have been hoping to do a sort of circus themed cake for awhile.
The best part of Tara's request is the little mini cake she wanted for Zev, so he could enjoy it all to himself =)
I was able to take the invitation she had sent me and run with it. This is now officially one of my favorite cakes to make. The party looked great, and Tara was so great to work with! Hope you enjoyed it sweet baby Zev!

Honey Bee Going Away Cake!
While helping plan for one of my great friend Casey's going away party, I was trying to think of a theme for her cake. Being that Casey is one of the sweetest people I know, and she is off to follow her dream of moving to San Diego, I thought a honey bee theme would only be appropriate. Casey, you are as sweet as can bee, and new friends will stick to you like honey, so go off a fly away to your new adventure! Cheesy, I know, haha love you Casey!
Pillow & Tiara Cake

A Two Two Train Cake!
I stole this creative blog title from my friend Megan, who hosted a train themed birthday party for her now toddler Evan! The party was complete with railroad signs, a giant train set as a birthday gift, and a birthday boy dressed as a conductor. So Megan asked me to make a cake to suit the occasion. She had the idea of making the train tracks 2-shaped, and we were able to use cupcakes for ease of serving while still having the decorated tiny train cakes. The cargo was none other than jelly beans and animal crackers and I'm pretty sure it was a party on the train as well as around it! Loved making this cake, but even better was seeing Evan's face and hearing him repeat "train cake!" and he saw it. Pure cuteness! Happy 2nd birthday Evan!
