Kyle's Wrestling Ring Birthday Cake!

Wrestling Ring Cake next to it's toy look-alike!
Just as fun as making this cake was delivering it- Kyle and family showed up at the door very excited to see the wrestling ring cake! I was super excited to find that Kyle's birthday present was a toy ring almost the same size and with a twin design of my cake model! Next week I am making a replica fit for a birthday party with friends and family! I look forward to hearing Kyle's reaction again!

Honey Bee Going Away Cake!

While helping plan for one of my great friend Casey's going away party, I was trying to think of a theme for her cake. Being that Casey is one of the sweetest people I know, and she is off to follow her dream of moving to San Diego, I thought a honey bee theme would only be appropriate. Casey, you are as  sweet as can bee, and new friends will stick to you like honey, so go off a fly away to your new adventure! Cheesy, I know, haha love you Casey!

John and Brynne's Royal Wedding!

When Brynne started describing the plans for her and John's Royal Wedding themed big day at the First Historic Presbyterian Church in Phoenix, I knew it would be an unbelievably beautiful occasion. What I wasn't expecting were the incredibly creative twists combined with her classic theme. Not only did Brynne want a three tiered elegant wedding cake, but she wanted her guests to enjoy cookies and milk for dessert! She wore a beautiful lace Kate Middleton style traditional dress, and her bridesmaids also wore white dresses in the style of their choices with navy blue sashes. The church had antique wooden pews and stained glass windows, all of which were made even more vibrant by the worship band made up of John and Brynne's best friends and clapping and singing along by their guests. What a beautiful and all out FUN celebration of their new life together! Thanks for letting me be a part of your big day and your fun dessert table!

Roses = Romance!

I'm not sure why, but until now, I have avoided fondant or gum paste flowers in my cake designs. I think it was for the sake of creativity, not wanting flowers to always be my default, but I am quite happy I finally caved in to make this simple, yet pretty bridal shower cake!

Gender Cakes! A Pink or Blue Surprise

I had never heard of a gender cake before my friend Heather called me and asked me to bake one for her and her husband Jeremy. She was getting closer to her 18th week of pregnancy and could not wait to find out their little baby's gender.

She had gotten the idea from a friend to surprise family with the baby's gender by baking a cake using pink or blue coloring and cutting open the cake after dinner to find out the surprise color. I had heard of something similar to this where another friend of mine used a message inside of a fortune cookie to let her family know she was having a girl. What was truly unique about Heather's request was that she didn't even want to know the sex of the baby before she cut open the cake- this meant the gender would be sent straight to me via the Dr's office (phone call in her case-  written letter in a sealed envelope is also an option). I was glad Heather booked with me a month ahead of time because the "reveal" dinner was scheduled the same day as her Ultrasound appointment, and I had about an 8 hour window to complete her cake from baking to decorating to delivering (with other business demands to juggle). Thankfully, I was able to keep a secret before her cake cutting, and she and Jeremy were super stoked to find out IT'S A GIRL!!! I hope you enjoyed your pink velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, all the best for the remainder of your pregnancy and the life of your baby girl!
