Baby Cakes! An oversized cupcake and lollipop pendant topper

I always love it when best friends need/order cakes, because I can usually convince them to go with the latest cake design I have been dreaming up. Well, in this case, the cake was for one of my best friends in the whole world, so, being the awesome friend that she is, let me come up with her cake design all on my own =) I combined a few things I've been wanting to try- the oversized cupcake in addition to the lollipop stick pendant topper. Thanks for letting me play Julie! Vuala!

Animal Prints and Secret Messages!

Truth be told: I am not a fan of long written messages on cakes. I know that sometimes there is no way to avoid it, and some my clients may insist, but being that aesthetics, in addition to taste are at the top of my list, I like for the design to speak for itself! So after a very insistent client (I can make fun of them because   it's a friend of mine), asked me repeatedly to write a message to his girlfriend on the cake, I came up with this little idea: a personalized fondant fortune cookie! So, what did it say? The message was "Happy Birthday Boo", any pet name, or message can be used though, simply ask, or I may beat you to the punch and suggest it =)

POPS rock!!!

Just a fun sampling of the cake pops created for an accoustic night featuring a talented local artist at Cornerstone Chandler Cafe! These were fun to create being that all the bright colors were inspired by the rising star's bright and undeniably adorable personality. And of course I added a little "CS" love for Cornerstone! Check out Jayna, who has been in the Disney Channel's "Lemonade Mouth"! She is even on IMDB . How cool that we get to see artists like this at awesome local spots like Cornerstone Cafe?!

Pinterest Inspired Sweets!

With the recent, and healthy Pinterest craze that helps so many become excellent party planners,  it is only expected that I would get many an email including links to Pinterest pics for cake/ cake pop and cupcake requests! I get so many of my ideas and inspiration from theres, so I encourage it! I do try to customize and add my own flare, but here are 2 examples of cake/cupcake ideas that were borrowed from the awesome and helpful virtual pinboard tool.

Cake #1 above was inspired by one of my "pins" and requested by a client in a smaller size, as pictured by clicking here. The cupcakes were actually dually inspired, The Pinterest picture that was sent to me from a client, was inspired by the rocket pops we so loved to enjoy as kids!

So pin away Pinterest lovers, and send me your links! Check out my boards here, and follow "Cakes I Made" if you'd like!

Pre-wedding Bridal Bliss!

Bride Melissa was fortunate enough to have an awesome Maid of Honor and Bridal Party that planned a fantastic weekend centered around pre-wedding celebrations for her recently- they had a shower for her and a Bachelorette bash later on that very same night! Maid of Honor, Kate, ordered her a couple cakes to celebrate, centered around the hot pink Bridal party colors that would be featured in their wedding! The top cake, as you may have guessed, was for the Bachelorette party, with a tasteful but fun and lacy lingerie theme, and cake #2 was a fun little cake for her Bridal Shower! Congrats Melissa! Glad they showered you with attention, and sweets, to honor your big day!

Gender Reveal Mania!!

I have seen these things ALL over lately, and I can't mention enough how COOL it is to know the gender of the baby while making the cake, and sometimes even before the parent has found out! If you are ever interested in ordering a gender reveal cake, scheduling the cake weeks in advance is more than possible, on or around the date of your 18ish week ultrasound, and even coordinating a gender neutral design as to leave it a mystery for your cake-eating guests. If the order is planned in advance, I am able to expect a call 1-2 days before the cake is needed to let me know whether it is a go for "Pink" or "Blue". I have even received a call from a doctor's office to let me know the gender before since the parents wanted to be just as surprised! So, I love this idea!
I know what you are wondering...well, was it PINK or BLUE??? In the case above, it was 2 layers of blue for TWIN boys! Congrats to my client Tosha and her hubby!!

Real Men Eat Cake.

Jagermeister Cake (Cake #1 described below)

Steelers Cake (Cake #2)
So, I had just started to feel like as a Cake Baketress, I was beginning to specialize in the frilly and the girly, when I happened to get 2 cakes scheduled for one week with, well, some male appeal. Not to say that every man doesn't love a good cake pop (they really do), but I can imagine they do not oOoh and Awe at some of the ruffly cakes I make for, well, chicks. Being that I am a chick, of course I have the my own personal feminine style, but it is just fun to make cake for a guy every once in awhile. So I was excited when a past coworker ordered cake #1 pictured above, for his BFF's birthday shindig! First of all, that kind of bro-mance touches my heart, and second of all, I love that he took part in personalizing the design of the cake! So cool.

Cake #2, was ordered by one of my besties for her husband. It was particularly cute, because I'm pretty sure she got him into the Steelers, but also because it was a surprise. She met me out front to secretly intercept the delivery! So, for all you real men out there, enjoy your cake! And it can even look pretty, oops, I mean "cool", too =)

Pup-Cakes!

When a good friend of mine told me she was throwing a puppy party for her dog Ivy, and 2 others, and she wanted to order a cake, I assumed she meant for her and the party goers. I was WRONG =) She definitely wanted a canine friendly cake, edible for the three birthday pups! To be specific, she wanted 3 individual cakes for each dog, and mini cupcakes (pupcakes) perfect for party favor bags for each to take home. I happen to have my own puppy, who did the taste testing for me, and he could not get enough of it! Courtesy of the client, per my request is picture #2, Happy Birthday Ivy, Emma and Mousse!

Ruffle Bottomed Cake!

If you can't tell already from my other cakes, and from my Pinterest Account, I LOVE ruffles. In fact, if you see me around town, I may even be wearing them, somewhere on my outfit, as pointed out by many of my friends. So I'm not sure it was a surprise when one of my clients, who asked me surprise her with the design of the cake, picked this frilly treat up! I saw a similar design in a wedding I was at, and since have had to try it. Indeed, it is one of my faves and you may be seeing a lot of these ruffles incorporated into future cakes! In fact, in my photo shoot by Keira Grace Photography, I created some rose cupcakes using a similar technique. Hope you like frills as much as I do!
